The Big Bash League (BBL) has been a consistent presence on the T20 world circuit over the years with the colourful tournament being played in front of large crowds seemingly a perfect fit for the sport.
It has also managed to stand firm as the second in the pecking order to the Indian Premier League despite other tournaments such as the ILT20 and now the SA20 attempting to take players away from the competition at the same time.
From the crowd catches to the umpire's outfits, the BBL has managed to retain plenty of its identity while still attracting big names from Kevin Pietersen and Chris Gayle to Shimron Hetmyer and AB de Villiers.
Following The Hundred's Lead
Although the Oval Invincibles and Trent Rockets are yet to complete their sales, the other six teams in The Hundred now have sold significant stakes.
| Team | Stakes Sold To |
| Northern Superchargers | The Sun Group |
| Manchester Originals | RPSG Group |
| Southern Brave | GMR Group |
| London Spirit | Tech Titans |
| Birmingham Phoenix | Knighthead Capital Management |
| Welsh Fire | Washington Freedom |
The most significant of those sales is the purchase of the 100% stake in the Northern Superchargers by The Sun Group who paid just over £100 million for the privilege.
And with figures like that being banded around, you can understand why Cricket Australia's ears have pricked up!
