Oval Invincibles Carry On Where They Left Off In 2024

Oval Invincibles Carry On Where They Left Off In 2024

It was a 17-run victory for Oval Invincibles when they lifted the Men's Hundred trophy with the win over Southern Brave last year and they have kicked off in 2025 with two big victories when chasing!

In the opening game of the men's tournament, Oval Invincibles went north of the River Thames and returned home with a six wicket win with 31 balls remaining against London Spirit.

And then on Saturday, they dropped anchor at their home ground and made very short work of beating a team including Sir Jimmy Anderson as they thrashed the northerners by nine wickets with 43 balls remaining.

Can they go on and make it three out of three en route to another Men's Hundred title? Or will the confidence from 2024 disappear at some point? Read on as we take a close look at Oval Invincibles.

Crushing Wins Over London Spirit and Manchester Originals

Any team who wins a tournament 12 months previously will always come into the new season with a swagger and full of confidence.

The fact that Oval Invincibles have many players in their squad who are also flying high at the top of the County Championship Division One, targetting a fourth successive title, means that self-belief is not in short supply in the squad.

But then when you throw in Rashid Khan, arguably the best white ball spinner in the world, into the squad, then maybe they become unbeatable?

Unsurprisingly, the bowling attack dismissed London Spirit for just 80 from 94 balls!

Oval Invincibles Bowling Figures In London Derby
Bowler Balls Dots Runs Wickets
Jason Behrendorff 20 7 17 1
Jordan Clark 10 6 8 2
Tom Curran 15 4 11 0
Sam Curran 19 10 18 3
Rashid Khan 20 15 11 3
Nathan Sowter 5 1 10 1
Will Jacks 5 2 4 0

Taking On Manchester Originals At Home

Plenty were impressed by the win over London Spirit but the trouncing of Manchester Originals saw Oval Invincibles go up to another level!

There were three more wickets for Rashid Khan, two more for Jason Behrendorff and Sam Curran and Saqib Mahmood came into the the team, replacing the unlucky Jordan Clark, to dismiss two batters of his own.

Then Will Jacks (61 runs from 26 balls) and Tawanda Muyeye (59* from 28 balls) went to work.

Simply, Oval Invincibles are flying, and few would consider not backing them to make it three wins from three when they head to Birmingham Phoenix
