Pakistan Target Another Series Win Over West Indies

A five wicket victory, with seven balls remaining, in Friday's day-nighter in Tarouba means that Pakistan have become the first team to win back to back games on this 'tour' of the West Indies.
The visitors took the T20I series 2-1, recording victories in the first and third games, but can now make it three successive wins and can claim the series when the same teams go head to head on Sunday.
A Look Back At The First ODI
There was one debutant across both sides in the opening game of the series with Hasan Nawaz, the 22 year old Pakistan batter, given his first taste of ODI cricket and showing the world what he could do!
Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and asked the hosts to bat first, knowing that in Shaheen Shah Afridi he has one of the best exponents of the new ball in this format.
Shaheen Shah Afridi duly obliged, dismissing Brandon King with only the fifth ball of the game on his way to returning the best figures of the Pakistan attack. In doing so he reached 131 wickets in the format, the most ever in ODI history from 65 games!
| Bowler | Overs | Maidens | Runs | Wickets | Economy Rate |
| Shaheen Shah Afridi | 8 | 0 | 51 | 4 | 6.37 |
| Naseem Shah | 8 | 0 | 55 | 3 | 6.87 |
| Saim Ayub | 10 | 1 | 48 | 1 | 4.80 |
| Sufiyan Muqeem | 10 | 0 | 52 | 1 | 5.20 |
| Salman Agha | 10 | 0 | 44 | 1 | 4.40 |
| Faheem Ashraf | 3 | 0 | 18 | 0 | 6.00 |
Three of West Indies' batters made half-centuries but none of them were able to go beyond 60! Opener Evin Lewis top-scored with 60 before skipper Shai Hope made 55 and Test captain Roston Chase made 53.
It was a not too dis-similar card from Pakistan in their pursuit of 281 with Babar Azam (47), captain Mohammad Rizwan (53), Hasan Nawaz (63*) and Hussain Talat (41*) making significant contributions to the victory.
West Indies Bowlers Struggle
After the Pakistan bowling attack dismissed West Indies at the end of the 49th over, West Indies knew that they would need to take wickets throughout the second innings of the game.
| Bowler | Overs | Maidens | Runs | Wickets | Economy Rate |
| Jayden Seales | 10 | 1 | 59 | 1 | 5.90 |
| Jediah Blades | 7 | 0 | 53 | 0 | 7.57 |
| Shamarh Joseph | 9.5 | 1 | 65 | 2 | 6.61 |
| Gudakesh Motie | 10 | 0 | 42 | 1 | 4.20 |
| Romario Shepherd | 4 | 1 | 20 | 0 | 5.00 |
| Roston Chase | 8 | 0 | 41 | 1 | 5.12 |
Looking Ahead To The Second ODI
Although it is the same venue, there are plenty of factors at work which could mean a different result in Tarouba on Sunday! Take a look at our intel when considering cricket betting on this game.
- This is a day ODI as opposed to a day-night fixture
- Can West Indies turn fifties into centuries?
- Hasan Nawaz was the Player of the Match on Friday, can he repeat the feat on Sunday or will it be a case of second ODI syndrome?
- In 14 of his last 19 ODI innings, Shaheen Shah Afridi has taken between two and five wickets, he is a consistent machine with the white ball in international cricket.
