Surrey, Essex and Somerset Make Fine Starts In Latest Round

Most eyes of cricket fans across the globe have been locked on the compelling England versus India Test series this summer, but the top division of the red-ball domestic competition continues to deliver an excellent standard and entertainment.
We are into round 11 and day one was completed on Tuesday so, ahead of day two on Wednesday, let's take a look at who has made a strong start and recommend some betting tips!
The Race For The Championship
Surrey have won the title in 2022, 2023 and 2024 and began this round top of the table, on course for another championship. It didn't all go their way in Chester-le-Street on Tuesday but they will go into Wednesday with a 29-run lead and with five wickets in hand.
Daniel Worrall took 4/31 and Sam Curran 3/22 as the hosts were dismissed for 153 before Surrey closed on 182/5 thanks to 58 from Ryan Patel and an unbeaten 68 from Dan Lawrence.

Nottinghamshire are Surrey's nearest challengers and got off to a fine start at home to Somerset but then had to trudge around the field for the rest of the day! Somerset were reduced to 0/2 after three overs and 25/3 after 12.1 but 162 not out from James Rew and 156 from Tom Abell will see the Cidermen begin Wednesday on 338/4 and looking to leapfrog Notts in second place!

Battle For The Drop
Worcestershire are adrift at the bottom of the table and most pundits expect them to be playing division two cricket next year.
There was rain around at home against Hampshire on Tuesday which meant only 39.2 overs were possible and the visitors closed on 146/2.
Ahead of day two, Hampshire are priced at 1.25 with Worcestershire at 3.75 to record their second victory of the season.
Fellow strugglers Yorkshire and Essex both enjoyed strong Tuesdays and look in strong positions to press home their advantages against Warwickshire and Sussex respectively.
