With 16 players already retained for the IPL 2026 season, Chennai Super Kings head into the mini-auction with a strong core but still a few clear gaps to fill. With a remaining purse of ₹43.40 crore, CSK have enough budget to make some major signings and complete their rebuilding phase.
Looking at the current squad, CSK lack an experienced overseas middle-order batter who can also bowl a few overs. This role becomes even more important after the trade involving Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran.
Some of the best available options this year include Liam Livingstone, Andre Russell, Glenn Maxwell, and Cameron Green. All four are proven match-winners who bring power-hitting and part-time bowling, exactly what CSK need to strengthen their middle overs. Among them, Livingstone and Green offer better long-term value, while Maxwell and Russell bring explosive short-term impact.
Another major area CSK must address is their spin department. With Noor Ahmad and Shreays Gopal being the two frontline wrist spinners, CSK doesn't have finger spinner in heir ranks. The team will surely target someone like Ravi Bishnoi, who is the ideal choice if available. Bishnoi provides control, wickets in the middle overs, and long-term security.
CSK may also go for an overseas fast bowler to partner their young pace unit. With options like Nathan Ellis and Mukesh Choudhary already in the squad, they might look for a genuine pace leader who can bowl at the death. CSK might also be eyeing at Lungi Ngidi or go for some exciting fast bowlers like Xavier Bartlett.
Overall, CSK have the purse, the direction, and the rebuilding mindset to make some strong moves in the IPL 2026 mini-auction. The right additions could put them back in playoff contention.
